Marquetry top of a table nude for Maria-Antoinette in 1776 and mounted on its present bass in the nineteenth century. Commode completed in 1775 for the bedroom of Louis xvi at Versailles. Costing 28,168 livres, this was one of the most expensive pieces of furniture made in the eighteenth century. The central panel of marquetry originally bore Royal insignia which were Removed during the Revolution.
