Take modern hospitality, for instance, which was revolutionised in 1984, when she helped create the first “boutique hotel”, the Morgans Hotel, owned by Ian Schrager. Schrager would call upon Andrée Putman’s eye for innovation once again when he renovated the Morgans 25 years later!
Andrée Putman’s experience in reworking interiors includes, among other projects, the St James Club in Paris, the Im Wasserturm in Cologne, the Sheraton at Roissy–Charles de Gaulle airport and the Ritz Carlton in Wolfsburg.
In 2007, she was asked to design not just the interiors, but also the exteriors of two skyscrapers in Hong Kong. In recognition of her work, one of the towers was symbolically named The Putman.
