Laprise des forts de Takou constitue une étape décisive de la progression des troupes franco-britanniques vers Pékin. Ils furent assaillis l’un par les Français l’autre par les Anglais. Ils étaient protégés par de hauts murs d’enceinte et de larges fossés hérissés de pieux que l’on apperçoit sur cette photographie.
